在我們進(jìn)行雅思閱讀考試或者在閱讀英文文獻(xiàn)的時候，我們需要把握的是文章中我們所需要的信息，我們將其稱之為“核心信息”而其余的部分則與全文的理解或者解題沒有直接的關(guān)系，屬于“非必要信息”，而我們閱讀的主要目的是盡快挖掘出文章中的“核心信息”，而對于“非必要信息”，則不需要徹底和完整的理解，也即是所謂的“目的性閱讀法”。

對于正在發(fā)生的事態(tài)或動作，英語新聞標(biāo)題也按日常英語語法規(guī)則處理，采用現(xiàn)在進(jìn)行時“be＋現(xiàn)在分詞”這一形式，但其中“be”又通常省略。因此，剩下的現(xiàn)在分詞便在新聞標(biāo)題中直接表示正在進(jìn)行的動作或正在發(fā)展的事態(tài)。例如：
